Like many queer activity groups in Toronto, Queer Pickleball Club has had a major impact on the local LGBTQ+ community. By providing a queer specific place for pickleball lovers, Mel and her team have established a strong community of folks at all levels in the sports, where they casually play together as well as in competitions. They’ve developed friendships, their skills and created a place of belonging for themselves where they can share their love for the sport. When capturing the essence of their league, the artist Kelcy Timmons Chan wanted to highlight some of the people that brought this community group to life.
