Compay Segundo was a legend of Cuban music. Duets was released in 2001 when Company was 94 years old, two years before his passing. The album includes new recordings of classic son gs of his and Cuban music repertoire. Compay sang with an impressive list of artists from different cultures; Charles Aznavour, Khaled, Cesaria Evora, Silvio Rodríguez, Pablo Milanés, Omara Portuondo, Eliades Ochoa, Santiago Auserón, even the actor Antonio Banderas. This vinyl edition includes an essay (in Spanish and English) by Compay´s producer Luis Lázaro. Available in vinyl for the first time. Compay was the Godfather of the Son and the Cuban music and he was one of the main artists of the “Buena Vista Social Club” record, which has sold over 8 million copies and was awarded the 1998 Grammy for Best Traditional Tropical Latin Album.
