“There's something about Brut, that's nice to be close to.” So said the commercials way back in 1964 when perfumer Karl Mann created what could arguably be considered the most iconic men's scent in history. With a massive overdose of Musk Ambrette (an astonishing 13%) it is not surprising this fragrance was practically destroyed by legislative banning of raw materials and what is on the shelf in drug stores and department stores today is a mere shadow of what once was. Until now. Compound Brut is the full unchanged original fragrance. There is no EU compliant or IFRA compliant version of this compound - it just isn't possible. Instead what you get is a compound that will allow you to study the profile and qualities of one of the most popular perfumes for gents without having to imagine what it was like. Freshly made with the finest materials (as with all Fraterworks products) you will be astonished by how good this product is. This is not a "perfume for grandpa" or an old man's scent. This is class to the extreme. With high quality Mysore sandalwood (a lot!), patchouli, green oakmoss and vetiver you realise just how much care went in to scents in the past - even those that are now deemed to be nasty cheapies. Originally diluted to 10% it was Brut. Diluted to 5% (with some distilled water in the alcohol blend) it was Brut 33. Make it both ways to further your perfumery education.
