The three-minute minimum is a CoTCCC standard for hemostatic dressings, where the agent needs a sustained compression interval to work. This is plain gauze; the TCCC skill standard for packing plain gauze is firm, uninterrupted manual pressure until hemorrhage is controlled — an endpoint, not a timer. Three minutes is a reasonable working floor and is not a stopping point. The legacy listing also carried a unit price in its specification table; price belongs on the buy button, not in a spec sheet, and has been removed. ▾Who Carries It Combat medics and corpsmen packing junctional, axillary, groin, neck and deep extremity wounds a tourniquet cannot reach · EMS and fire responders working protocol wound packing · Law enforcement and active-threat responders carrying penetrating-trauma packing capability in a patrol kit · IFAK, Bleeding Control Kit and B-CON Kit builders, and the agencies, departments and school districts that resupply them · Training programmes that need realistic packing volume, using rolls kept separate from mission stock. Wound packing is a trained skill and gauze does not supply it. On an arterial or high-volume bleed, lead with a CoTCCC-recommended hemostatic dressing and use plain gauze behind it as overflow and reinforcement; plain gauze is not a substitute in that situation. Do not pack an open chest wound — penetrating thoracic trauma is managed with a chest seal — and evisceration has its own pathway. A deep junctional wound routinely consumes more than one roll, so stock in multiples rather than singly. Work within your scope of practice and your local protocol.
