The star is a recurring alchemical motif. The placement of the stars on the Celeste instrument is based on the sacred geometry of the Fibonacci Sequence found in the mathematics of nature…flowers, seed heads, pinecones, seashells etc. This pattern, along with its mathematical ratios and proportions, can also be found in harmonics, music, light, and in the eccentric beauty of the cosmos. More on the Celeste Design The circular shape alone is an alchemical symbol of the never ending circle of life. Placing a half moon and half sun inside the circle supplies another layer of meaning. The sun represents the masculine, fire, the divine spark, nobility, and incorruptibility. The moon represents the feminine, fertility, resurrection, immortality and intuition. Alchemists would incorporate the two to assure balance. Orbiting the Moon/Sun is a field of stars, an “A” for Alkemi, a Crown and a Musical Note. The design is laser etched on the soundboard and then hand tinted for contrast.
