This Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru leaps from the glass with a mélange of red and blueberry fruit, wilted iris petals and a touch of inkwell. I admire the delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, juicy red berry fruit laced with marmalade and blood orange. The exceptionally rich and lavishly concentrated big-bodied flavors possess a velvety mouthfeel thanks to the almost thick dry extract that serves to also buffer the notably firm tannic spine on the incredibly powerful finish.
