The crossbow, despite its slower rate of fire compared to the longbow, has become the weapon of choice for many mercenary companies across the Hundred Kingdoms due to its comparative ease of use. It is said that while mastering the longbow can take years, one can become proficient with a crossbow in a matter of days, making it an ideal weapon for mercenaries who rely on quick mobilization and effective force. How They Play: Reliable Ranged Support: Mercenary Crossbowmen are an excellent ranged support unit for your army. Their crossbows deliver high armor-piercing shots that can help break through tough enemy formations, making them valuable against heavily armored units. While their rate of fire may not match that of longbowmen, their ability to punish elite troops with powerful bolts gives them a unique edge in battle. Affordable and Versatile: Due to the crossbow's relative ease of use and lower training time, these mercenaries provide cost-effective firepower compared to longbowmen. They can quickly form the backbone of your ranged support, allowing you to save resources for other parts of your army while still gaining effective ranged offense. Flexible Tactics: Whether you need them to harass enemy lines, pick off key targets, or suppress enemy movement, the Mercenary Crossbowmen are versatile enough to fulfill various roles. With their high armor-piercing potential, they can be particularly useful when facing tougher enemy units that other ranged troops might struggle to damage. Command Card for Tactical Support: The 1 Command Card included with the set can help coordinate and boost the effectiveness of your Mercenary Crossbowmen, making them even more formidable on the battlefield. You can enhance their precision or maneuverability, depending on your strategic needs. Perfect for Expanding Your Army: If you need reliable ranged support to complement your melee forces or reinforce your frontlines, the Mercenary Crossbowmen are an excellent choice. Their cost-effective nature and ability to contribute to a variety of tactics make them an essential unit in your Hundred Kingdoms force. In Summary: Mercenary Crossbowmen are a highly effective and versatile unit for any Hundred Kingdoms army. They offer high damage output with their armor-piercing crossbows, providing you with strong ranged support. Thanks to their ease of use and quick training, they are a great choice for mercenary commanders looking to build a solid ranged force without investing extensive time in training. With the Command Card to support them, they can be adapted to different battlefield scenarios, helping your army stay flexible and potent in any engagement.
