The Consonance LinearQ is an integrated tube headphone and speaker amplifier that features differential architecture, fully balanced, with a push-pull output stage and a hybrid tube rectifier power supply. The amplifier is designed around two pairs of direct-heated 2A3 triode tubes operating in push-pull configuration. The specially-designed output transformers ensure optimal impedance matching, making it easy to drive headphones from a variety of brands without any strain. A selector switch matches the output for low or high impedence headphones. Additionally, a set of speaker output terminals allows this high-quality 8 watt class-A integrated amplifier to be paired with high-sensitivity loudspeakers. There are three negative feedback settings, providing listener control depending on taste, type of music, and headphone or speaker types. The LinearQ is a two-chassis design, one housing the power supply, the second primarily for the signal circuitry, allowing quiet operation and isolation of any noise from the signal path. Made with high-quality components such as Lundahl balanced input transformers, EIZZ balanced (and sealed) stepped attenuator, Mundorf and Auricap capacitors, RA resistors, and internal silver wiring, the circuitry and design of the LinearQ results in a transparent, dynamic, and most of all engaging listening experience. I've yet to hear a headphone amp that reproduces the musical flow with this much authenticity, even with entry- or mid-level "audiophile" headphones. The speaker outputs give the same result.
