Construction Safety Officer MODE OF INSTRUCTION: Traditional Instructor-Led (In-class) COST: $2,000.00 + GST A 50% deposit is required at registration, and the balance is due ten business days before the start of the course. DURATION: 80 Hour over 10 days (5 consecutive weekdays for 2 weeks) SCHEDULE: 9:00am to 5:00pm ACCREDITATION: New or expired certification PREREQUISITE: 19 years of age A strong command of written and spoken English One year of experience on a construction job site (Recommended but not required) COURSE CONTENT: Week 1 Building Bylaws Workers Compensation Act Occupational Health & Safety Regulations BC Fire Code Responsibilities of all parties are discussed, and prevention activities to meet the duties of responsible persons are explained Health and Safety Programs Conducting Risk Assessments Writing Safe Work Procedures Instructing and Training New and Young Worker Orientations Performing Site Inspections Managing Injury Reports Accident Investigations Week 2 Confined Space Procedures De-energization and Lockout Excavations and Shoring Fall Protection Concrete Construction Electrical Safety Cranes and Hoists Traffic Control Emergency Response Planning MATERIALS INCLUDED: Canadian Red Cross Childcare First Aid & CPR Manual (digital) Canadian Red Cross Comprehensive Guide to First Aid (digital) REQUIREMENTS: Successfully demonstrate skills and critical steps A minimum score of 75% on written knowledge evaluation Attend and participate in 100% of the course CERTIFICATION: Upon successfully completing this program, students will receive a Construction Safety Officer Certificate from Safety Central, which has written and developed this program. This program is recognized by the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC).
