Incentive Create a continued pattern from an existing fabric or wrapping paper Supplies Art paper or A4 paper Cut outs of a variety of patterned fabrics or wrapping paper Paint Paintbrush Crayons Markers Scissors Craft / PVA Glue Spare backing paper Lesson 1 Select an interesting patterned fabric or wrapping paper cut out and paste it anywhere on your paper. 2 Use markers or paint or crayons to continue the pattern. If it is a plain pattern, the background colour can be changed as seen in the above pictures. 3 The pattern may be continued by copying it as closely as possible or it can be exaggerated, cut out and pasted on different colours. 4 It is essential the original lines on the fabric or wrapping paper are connected to and continued. 5 Ensure each child has a different sample to start with. This will make a marvellously colourful display when all the artwork is arranged on a backing wall or as a border around the room.
