Ready to build on your metalsmithing skills? This continuing class is designed for students who have taken an introductory course (or have basic metalsmithing experience) and are ready to expand their techniques through independent, creative projects. Students will design and create their own unique pieces while building on foundational skills like sawing, soldering, and forming, with guidance and support throughout the process. Explore additional techniques including lost wax casting, cuttlebone casting, broom casting, and learn how to bring your ideas to life in a hands-on studio environment using acetylene gas for soldering. Please note: This six-session course meets on July 22, July 29, August 5, August 19, August 26, and September 2 from 6:00PM–9:00PM. Students should plan to attend all six sessions. What to Bring & Wear: For your safety, please wear closed-toe shoes and avoid loose-fitting clothing. Pants or skirts that extend to at least the knee are recommended. If you wear glasses for close-up work, please bring them to class. If you have hair past your shoulders, please arrive with it tied back or bring something to tie it back with.
