The #01 Coral Ball listed here is a good representation of Gypsum mineral. When this piece was unearthed the bottom peeled back and exposed the purple opal replacement. This is wha t we commonly call on field an 'Opalised Coral Ball'. Opal has replaced the previous gypsum crystal structure making it a wonderfully unusual piece to add to your Opal Collection. Note : "Coral Balls' were previously commonly mistaken as an Opal Pineapple. Recently we have confirmed with geologists these are in-fact a gypsum replacement & not of the Ikaite mineral structure.
