Hello, lovely painting people, this week's flowers are from the Coral Tree, a tree that I saw on my trip to Australia. Do you know it, I wonder? It has the most wonderful flame-red flowers whose structure is somewhat unusual. The hood that I refer to is actually called the keel, made up of two fused petals. It then has this beautiful spathe-shaped, banner petal in the richest of reds. Utterly captivating! I have adapted my photograph to make a pleasing arrangement (an artist’s prerogative). You can paint just one or two flowers or the whole cluster; the choice is yours. In this tutorial, I cover working around detail, soft sweeping to build colour and working around the essential highlights. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.Peace and happiness always,Billy xx
