Hazelnut Barcelona is a vigorous, fruiting bush with large, deeply veined, lance-shaped, green leaves and massed clusters of elongated creamy yellow male catkins and small, magenta , spider-like female flowers in winter. The blossoms are followed by edible, high-quality, delicious nuts encased in slightly elongated shells in late summer and autumn. Whilst Barcelona is self-pollinating, it is recommended to plant two different varieties for satisfactory fruiting.
