The Ammonite order is often seen in architecture, on top of a fluted column or as a supporting bracket. As a spiral symbol inspired from nature, it represents a link to the Earth's energy, the volutes shaped to resemble Ammonites. I imagine these sculptures as future fossils, remnants of unearthed future ruins. Made of new age sediments of the Anthropocene - flecks of plastic embedded in sand, decomposed heavy metals and toxic chemicals buried deep underground compressed beneath layers of concrete, eventually submerged and eroded underwater. The intertwining organic and inorganic are transformed to become a new hybrid form. Show more
