Core Series BGJ903 | The Distance & Depth Specialist 7'6" | MH | Fast | 10–17 lb | 1/4–3/4 oz | Casting The Precision Strike The BGJ903 is built for situations where maximizing distance and maintaining flawless contact with your bait are the keys to a bite. Built on a 45-Million Modulus Toray High-Modulus Carbon Fiber blank with a Nano-Resin matrix system — optimized for impact resistance and high toughness to eliminate the brittleness associated with high-modulus graphite — this rod delivers an incredibly crisp, fast action that translates into instant feedback. When fishing deep water or making ultra-long casts, the rapid blank recovery ensures there is zero slack or hesitation when you set the hook. The fast tip transfers deep-water energy directly into a powerful mid-section, driving single-point hooks home effortlessly even at the very end of a long cast. Extended Reach. Total Direct Contact. At 7 feet 6 inches, this blank bridges a critical gap in your arsenal, moving past standard utility lengths to give you an unmatched mechanical advantage. The extra length creates a massive casting arc, allowing you to launch baits into areas other anglers can't reach, or cover sprawling flats without spooking shallow fish. This added length gives you crucial line management advantages — allowing you to pick up large amounts of slack line instantly on a deep-water hookset, or easily clear heavy vegetation and steer hard-charging fish around the boat. The BGJ903 isn't just an extension of your arm — it's your long-range radar. It's the rod you pull out when you need to cover water, fish deep, and feel every blade of grass. Primary Techniques Carolina Rigs & Worming — take up massive amounts of line on deep-water hooksets while feeling every pebble, transition, and subtle tick on the bottom Deep Water Football Jigs — the 45M carbon is a radar system for deep rock and gravel transitions; the 7'6" length picks up slack instantly on long-distance hooksets and the Fast tip telegraphs every subtle drag and tick with zero delay Deep Water Fishing — maintain ultimate sensitivity and control when fishing deep structural elements like ledges, hump transitions, and deep timber where standard rods lose feel Hollow Body Frogs (Open Water & Light Pads) — the perfect length to skip and walk a frog over mat edges and open-water pad fields, with the fast tip to snap the bait into action and the MH power to pull bass clear Swimjigs (Grass Edges) — the 7'6" length and MH Fast action give you the reach to cover grass edges efficiently; the sensitive tip telegraphs the subtle thump of a bass tracking and eating a swimjig at distance while the backbone drives the hook home on a sweeping set Flipping Jigs (Laydowns & Channel Banks) — the 7'6" length provides the vertical leverage to pitch accurately into laydowns and main channel bank timber; the Fast action sensitivity detects subtle pressure bites in moderate cover and the MH power moves fish clear before they can wrap What Else This Rod Can Do BGJ903 — 7'6" MH Fast Casting. The Long-Range Striker. Freshwater Techniques Black Bass: Dragging football jigs, launching spinnerbaits within the 3/4 oz limit, and covering deep structural elements like ledges and hump transitions; oversized spinnerbaits will overload the blank. Walleye: Ideal for casting and dragging heavy jig-and-minnow combinations or lightweight plastics on deep rocky points. Striped Bass: Excellent for launching topwater walking baits into schooling fish without pulling the boat too close. Inshore Saltwater Techniques Redfish & Seatrout: Perfect for working popping corks with long leads or throwing soft plastics on 1/4 to 1/2 oz jig heads into open wind-blown bays. Flounder: Exceptional sensitivity for dragging live bait or Gulp plastics across sandy bottoms and feeling the distinctive, soft mushy bite. Snook: Great for throwing swimbaits and topwater plugs along open beach troughs and seawalls where casting distance keeps you out of sight. Borderline & Conditional Techniques Hollow Body Frogs (Thick Mats): The MH power rating (10–17 lb) is on the lighter end for extracting fish from dense matted vegetation. Works well on open-water pad edges and light slop, but step up to the DD885 or FP936 for punching through thick mats where a heavier power rating is required to stop fish before they bury. Deep-Diving Crankbaits: The Fast high-modulus tip is too crisp for sustained deep-crank retrieve — wrist fatigue sets in quickly and the stiff tip can pull treble hooks on aggressive strikes. Use the CB875 (Mod-Fast) for crankbait applications.
