A long-lived North American native perennial that is highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Excellent for borders, cottage gardens, native plantings, meadows, and naturalized landscapes. Seed heads also provide food for songbirds later in the season. Cut plants back after flowering if they become untidy or to promote fresh foliage. Fertilization is rarely necessary in average soils, as overly fertile soil can reduce flowering.
