Buy the tool path, not the extras There is a version of this purchase that makes a lot of sense and a version that does not, and the difference is understanding what "Basic" is des cribing. It is not describing the way the machine handles a wheel. The touchless demounting method, the automatic wheel measurement, the electromechanical turntable, the dual bead breaker, the articulated lifter and the touch-screen control are all here. What "Basic" describes is the automation wrapped around that core - the extra convenience systems that appear on the higher configurations of the ARTIGLIO MasterCode are not in this machine's documented feature list. If your reason for looking at a MasterCode is that you are tired of rim damage claims, this configuration delivers exactly that and nothing you are paying for goes unused. If your reason is unattended inflation cycles and an on-screen camera view, look at the Visual L configuration instead - we sell both and would rather point you at the right one. What "touchless" is actually claiming The Smart Corghi System is a leverless demounting procedure. The manufacturer's own wording is that there is absolutely no contact with the rim, and the mounting and demounting operations are automated and synchronised rather than a sequence of manual moves. Tire stress is minimised as a consequence. That is a business argument rather than a technical one. Rim damage is rarely a catastrophe; it is a slow leak of margin - a scuff here, a gouge there, an argument about whether the mark was already present. Those events cluster around the least experienced operator and the end of the longest shift. A method that does not put a tool against a rim removes that variance rather than managing it. The machine measures the wheel itself Wheel dimensions are acquired automatically and the tools position themselves from that acquisition. Three wheel-type settings cover the range of work, and each job can be run as an automatic cycle or taken over manually. There is a real operational benefit hiding in that: the automatic cycle makes ordinary work repeatable regardless of who is on shift, while the manual cycle is still there for the wheel that needs a person's judgement. Machines that offer only one of the two force a shop to staff for the hardest job it does. Bead breaking, turntable and lifter Bead breaking uses a dual pneumatic penetrator with opposed discs on separately controlled cylinders. Two discs working from opposite sides load the wheel symmetrically, which is a gentler way to separate a stubborn bead than prising against one point and hoping. The turntable is an intelligent electromechanical unit with a patented wheel clamp system and comes with additional specific flanges so that unusual wheels do not become a refusal. Published turntable torque is 811 ft-lb, with two speeds of 7 rpm and 18 rpm, and the second speed can also be run in reverse. The latest-generation inverter motor brings torque control and a controlled acceleration curve, which is what protects a tire from being snatched into motion. An integrated, fully articulated lifter rated at 187.4 lb (85 Kg) handles the part of the job that hurts people - lifting the assembly onto the machine. The bead depressor has an adjustable working height, is shaped for run-flat tires and is described as WDK homologated. Control and diagnostics Operation runs through an interactive multifunctional TFT-LCD touch screen with microprocessor control, a freely positioned mobile console and ergonomic pedal controls. The screen carries a USB port for database updates and video, scheduled maintenance reminders with self-diagnosis, sensor state checks and fault indication, and online help including the manual and the run-flat procedures. A machine that reports a failing sensor before it strands a wheel is worth more than one that does not, and that never shows up on a specification comparison. Three things on this page not to take at face value We would rather flag these than let a buyer discover them. The heading is wrong. The product page currently opens with the name of a different configuration of this machine and a leftover editing note. It is a content error on our side, not a different machine in a different box. This listing is the MasterCode Basic Touchless. The specification table is shared. The published specification block on this listing is identical, value for value, to the one on our Visual L listing - the same torque, the same weight, the same dimensions, the same power and air figures. Two differently specified and differently priced machines are unlikely to be identical in every published number, so treat this table as platform-level information rather than as verified model-specific data. Two rows share a label. That table contains two rows both labelled "Max. Tire Diameter", one reading 47" (1,194 mm) and one reading 15" (381 mm). One of those labels is wrong. The smaller value looks like a tire width, but we will not publish a guess as a specification, so both are shown exactly as supplied. The dimensions row has a related problem: it gives a width of 693", which is not a credible figure for a machine of this kind. None of this makes the machine a bad buy.
