This is a solid cork trivet large enough to handle the hottest & heaviest cast iron pan. It has channels routed in so you can use it as a holder for an Ipad, Kindle, or phone. We u se a lot of cork in our furniture and these are made from pieces too small to use. All of our cork is post-production waste. To translate cork bark is removed every 9 years from the cork oak. Wine and other types of stoppers are punched out and what remains is ground up and compressed into blocks and cylinders of various sizes.
