A compound tandem mill engine, with slide valve LP cylinder and Corliss valve HP - it's a beautifully made model, built using the Arnold Throp drawings supplied by Southworth Engines and using their castings. A large engine - you can lift it but wouldn't want to carry it far - it runs well, the trip gear fascinating in action. There's a clip of it running made by the builder here. From a collection of stationary engines recently arrived from the builder, including Galloway's non-dead centre, Stuart triple expansion, Westbury diagonal paddle and "ME" beam engines. His other work includes clocks, locomotives and traction engines, all built to a similar standard over a forty year modelling career - current projects include a "Red Wing" IC engine and Southworth steam pump, after which a regulator clock is in the planning stages.
