Cornwall Stone (also known as Cornish Stone or China Stone) is a partially kaolinized feldspathic rock that served as a low-iron flux in both glazes and clay bodies. Its high silic a content and balanced mix of alkali and alkaline earth oxides allowed smooth melting with minimal surface tension, making it useful to reduce crawling and aid adhesion in engobes and glazes.
