The offering of ex-votos originates in the tributes that people of the Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilisations presented to their gods.Later the symbol was borrowed by Catholicism and the ex-voto became an offering by the faithful as appreciation for a gift or miraculous healing. CORPUS MEUM (My Body) reinterprets the ancient ex-voto. It remains as an offering, but not in a temple or church: it is offered to oneself or to others. It is not of devotional nature, it symbolises a promise or wish to respect one’s own body and soul as well as the body and soul of others.
