Corsair American Gin 750ML is a vapor-infused craft gin from Tennessee bottled at 44% ABV (88 proof) in a 750ml format. Awarded a Double Gold medal at the 2014 50 Best competition, this expression stands out for its distinctive cucumber-forward botanical profile and hand-hammered gin-head pot still production.Quick Facts: ABV: 44% | Origin: Tennessee, USA | Style: American Gin | Distillery: Corsair Artisan DistilleryProduction & HeritageCorsair Artisan Distillery operates out of Nashville, Tennessee, and Bowling Green, Kentucky, and has built a reputation around experimental small-batch spirits. What distinguishes this gin is the vapor basket infusion method used in a hand-hammered gin-head pot still — rather than boiling botanicals directly in the spirit (maceration), the neutral spirit's vapor passes through a basket loaded with the botanical charge. This extraction process yields a lighter, crisper flavor profile than traditional methods. The botanical lineup includes cucumber peel, orange and lemon peel, cardamom, hyssop, chamomile flowers, coriander, angelica, orris root, licorice root, and juniper.Tasting NotesAroma: The nose opens with a balanced blend of citrus and juniper, followed by cardamom warmth and cool cucumber peel. Moderate floral and coriander notes sit alongside a subtle savory element that adds complexity.Taste: The entry is fairly soft and oily in texture, with cucumber peel arriving first on the palate. Mid-palate brings Far East spices — cardamom prominent among them — while a whisper of mint emerges toward the back. The citrus peels thread through the entire progression, keeping things bright.Finish: The finish is crisp and surprisingly long for how light the gin reads, with lingering citrus zest and warm spice. A clean, dry close leaves the cucumber note as a gentle echo. How to Drink Corsair GinNeat or slightly chilled, the vapor-infused character reveals its full botanical detail — a splash of cold water opens the floral and cucumber dimensions further. This gin also performs well in cocktails: Gin & Tonic: The cucumber peel note pairs naturally with a quality Indian tonic, requiring only a citrus twist for garnish. Gimlet: The soft, oily mouthfeel and crisp citrus backbone hold up beautifully against fresh lime juice and simple syrup. Tom Collins: The lighter botanical profile and long citrus finish make it a refreshing base for this classic tall drink. The botanical recipe, anchored by cucumber peel and layered with chamomile, hyssop, and cardamom, reads as distinctly American rather than a London Dry imitation. Competition results back this up: a Gold at the 2010 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and a Double Gold at the 2014 50 Best. For drinkers who want a gin that tastes like deliberate craft rather than a house style built for volume, Corsair delivers a genuine point of difference.
