The Rabaut's Cory (Corydoras rabauti), also widely known as the Rust Cory, is a peaceful, bottom-dwelling catfish native to the Amazon basin in Brazil and Peru. It is highly prized by aquarium enthusiasts for its unique "rusty" appearance, featuring a mix of orange, metallic green, and soft violet as it matures. Key Characteristics Appearance: They have a cream or pale base color with a thick black band running along their back from the head to the tail. Their head and gill plates often show a distinct orange or "rust" coloration. Size: These are medium-growing cories, typically reaching an adult size of 2 to 2.5 inches (5.5–6.5 cm). Behavior: They are social, schooling fish that should be kept in groups of at least 6 or more to feel secure. Lifespan: With proper care, they can live for about 5 years, though some sources suggest they can live much longer in optimal conditions.
