Corydoras paleatus is a species of catfish of the family Callichthyidae. Its common names include blue leopard corydoras, mottled corydoras, and peppered catfish. It originates from the lower Paraná River basin and coastal rivers in Uruguay and Brazil. Ideal Tank Setup For optimal care, provide a tank of at least 20 gallons. A soft, sandy substrate is essential to safeguard their sensitive barbels. Incorporate shelters like driftwood, caves, and aquatic plants to mimic their natural environment. Maintain water conditions with a pH between 6.5 and 7.5, temperature ranging from 22 to 26°C, and gentle circulation to ensure their well-being. Compatible Tank Mates Peppered Cory Catfish is a peaceful, social fish best kept in groups of six or more. Compatible tank mates include small, gentle species like tetras, guppies, and rasboras. It is important to avoid housing them with large or aggressive fish that could cause stress or injury. Feeding Peppered Cory Catfish are omnivores that thrive on a diverse diet. Their main food should be premium sinking pellets or micro-pellets, complemented by live or frozen treats such as daphnia, baby brine shrimp, or bloodworms. Supplementing with blanched vegetables like zucchini or cucumber helps maintain a well-rounded nutrition. Providing this balanced diet supports their energy and promotes robust health.
