Cosmic Flare Globe Amaranth (Gomphrena globosa 'Cosmic Flare')If you want nonstop color that does not melt in summer heat, Cosmic Flare Globe Amaranth is built for the job. Bright blooms hover above vivid foliage, keeping beds and containers lively from early summer until frost. It is an easy way to add high-impact contrast without signing up for high maintenance. The flowers also hold their color well, so you can enjoy them fresh in arrangements or dry them for later.Distinctive FeaturesThis globe amaranth stands out for its electric combination of raspberry to magenta flower heads and bright chartreuse to green foliage. The papery, clover-like blooms keep their shape and color for a long season, even through hot, dry stretches. Plants form a tidy, upright-mounding shape that fills space quickly without flopping, making it especially useful where you need clean lines and reliable performance.Growing Conditions Sun: Full sun for best flowering and strongest growth. Soil: Average, well-drained soil; avoid heavy, constantly wet spots. Water: Moderate water to establish, then water when the top soil dries; drought tolerant once established. USDA Zones: 9 to 11 as a tender perennial, typically grown as an annual in colder zones. Growth Rate: Quick seasonal growth, reaching mature size in one warm season. Deer: Not commonly reported as deer resistant, protect if browsing pressure is high. Ideal Uses Focal Point: Use the hot pink blooms against chartreuse foliage as a small-scale focal point in pots, borders, and entry beds. Containers: Excellent in patio containers where the color contrast reads from a distance all season. Bedding Color: Brightens sunny beds and edging with consistent, long-blooming impact. Cut and Dried Flowers: A top choice for fresh bouquets and dried arrangements because the blooms keep their color. Pollinator Support: Adds warm-season interest that can help draw butterflies and other pollinators to the garden. Low Maintenance Care Planting: Set out after frost in warm soil, giving plants room to widen and air to move through. Watering: Water regularly for the first few weeks, then shift to deep, occasional watering as needed. Feeding: Use light feeding at most; overly rich soil can reduce flowering and encourage soft growth. Deadheading: Optional, but removing spent heads can keep plants looking extra tidy. Pruning: Pinching is usually unnecessary; shear lightly if you want a tighter outline. Why Choose Cosmic Flare Globe Amaranth? Season-Long Color: Blooms from early summer to frost for dependable, sustained impact. Heat Toughness: Handles hot summer conditions with less stress than many annuals. Bold Contrast: Chartreuse foliage and magenta blooms deliver a modern, high-visibility look. Versatile Styling: Works equally well in containers, borders, and cutting gardens. Easy Success: A straightforward performer that rewards full sun and decent drainage. Whether you are dressing up a container, energizing a sunny border, or building a cutting garden, Cosmic Flare Globe Amaranth brings color that stays strong. Pair it with deeper greens or purple foliage to amplify the contrast, and let summer heat do its worst while this plant keeps performing. It is a simple, reliable way to make your warm-season plantings look intentional and finished.
