Back the project here: Cosmic Horror Kickstarter These Quickplay rules are a stripped-down entry point into Cosmic Horror. They are designed to let you set up a small Incident and play a couple of turns quickly, using only the most essential mechanics: Resolve, Actions, Investigation, and the spiral of Horror and Corruption. Cosmic Horror is not a game about winning a firefight. It is a game about what your Subjects are willing to do, and what it costs them to do it. Each model is a single Subject with limited Resolve and a mind that can only endure so much. You will spend Resolve to move, fight, and investigate. Then, in the Horror Phase, the Incident takes its due: fear accumulates, judgement slips, and the wider world begins to strain under the weight of what has been seen. Quickplay focuses on small forces - two or three models per side - and uses only a handful of actions: Move, Run, Engagement, Melee, and Investigation. You will interact with a Minor Mythos Location and a Mythos Subject, gather Fragments, and feel the pressure of the Cosmic Horror Track as it rises. Watch Gameplay here: Cosmic Horror Intro Game These rules keep the mechanics unchanged, but remove advanced systems and options so you can learn the rhythm of the game: the Pattern of Dread. Once you can play an Incident using Quickplay, you will be ready to add the full range of Subjects, Entities, Mythos cards, and campaign progression.
