Unlike traditional vises that clamp the hook by squeezing it between the jaws, the Cottarelli Micro Head Plus works by applying traction on the hook rather than direct compression. This system allows for exceptional hook locking with minimal effort. The operation is straightforward: by turning the aluminum knob, a slot opens at the tip of the head where the hook is inserted. Rotating the knob in the opposite direction locks the hook securely in place. The head accommodates hooks as small as size #18 and up to approximately size #6, limited only by the slot's dimensions. If a hook fits within the slot, it can be used. Made from durable materials such as aluminum, steel, and brass, it guarantees robustness and longevity. In addition to the 360° rotation on the main axis, the Cottarelli Micro Head Plus features three adjustable joints, offering virtually infinite positioning options. This allows you to align the hook perfectly for precise rotation along its axis. If the joint bolts are not tightened too firmly, they provide excellent stability during fly tying while maintaining full mobility without requiring constant adjustments with a wrench.
