Cotton batik fabric was originally made in India. If feels similar to a cotton poplin. It is lightweight with some structure. It features a dark indigo navy background with a peachy cream coloured ornate checkerboard that features different designs within the check (each check measures approximately 7cm x 7cm). Batik fabric is a traditional textile made using a wax resistant dyeing technique (please see this YouTube video of the fabric being made). As this fabric has been created using traditional highly skilled methods please expect irregularities and imperfections but we think these make the fabric unique and beautiful.
