Description Cotyledon orbiculata 'Tiny Wonder' Care Guide FAQ/Common Issues Cotyledon orbiculata 'Tiny Wonder' is a miniature succulent native to South Africa. It forms tight, upright clusters of fleshy leaves and stays small enough for containers and rock gardens. Thick, rounded leaves are coated in a soft silvery-blue finish with rosy-pink edges that create a two-tone effect. The compact growth habit produces neat mounds of foliage without sprawling, and the leaf surface has a fine, powdery texture. Tiny Wonder produces tall flower stalks during the growing season topped with bell-shaped blooms in orange and red. The flowers emerge above the rosettes and last several weeks. Propagation from stem cuttings roots readily and helps keep the plant full and compact. You can leave it up to ten days without water. It works well on sunny windowsills, in shallow containers, and alongside other drought-tolerant succulents in mixed displays. Cotyledon orbiculata 'Tiny Wonder' grows well in bright filtered light or full sun indoors and outdoors. Water it infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings, and avoid pooling water in the rosette. Tiny Wonder does best in gritty, well-draining cactus and succulent mix with 70–80% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite. It prefers temperatures between 50–75°F and tolerates frost down to 40°F in winter dormancy. Tiny Wonder is a slow-growing succulent that needs fertilizer only once during the spring growing season. It is hardy in USDA zones 5 through 10, surviving temperatures as low as −20°F in protected locations. It grows outdoors year-round in Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, California, Arizona, Texas, and Hawaii, thriving in alpine gardens and containers in colder regions when moved indoors during winter. Q: How often should I water Cotyledon orbiculata 'Tiny Wonder'? A: Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings, then water thoroughly. During the growing season, this typically means every two to three weeks; in winter, space watering to once monthly or skip it entirely if the plant is dormant. Q: Does this succulent need a lot of sunlight? A: Cotyledon orbiculata 'Tiny Wonder' grows well in bright filtered light and full sun. A south or east-facing window indoors provides plenty of light; outdoors, it tolerates afternoon shade in very hot climates but colors best with 4+ hours of direct sun. Q: Can Tiny Wonder be propagated easily? A: Stem cuttings root readily within two to three weeks in dry soil and bright light. Let cuttings callus for a day before planting, then wait about a week before the first light watering. Q: What size does this succulent reach? A: Tiny Wonder stays compact and rarely exceeds 4–6 inches tall and wide, making it suitable for small containers and tight spaces. Q: Is Tiny Wonder safe for cats and dogs? A: The plant is non-toxic and safe around pets. Q: What happens if I overwater this succulent? A: Excess moisture causes root rot and soft, translucent leaves. The rosette collapses if the condition persists, so repot into fresh, dry soil immediately if overwatering occurs.
