Spend an afternoon or evening unwinding and reconnecting with a partner, a friend, or a family member, in a fun group setting. Learn easy to follow, effective massage techniques to relax and relieve tension. Learn to soothe, connect, and build confidence in giving and receiving touch. No experience necessary. Every couple will have plenty of space in the studio. Deborah will demonstrate massage techniques on an (agreed upon) area of your body (head/face/neck/arms/hands/back/legs/feet/glutes) while the group looks on. You are also certainly welcome to opt out of being demonstrated on. Then, you'll go back to your partners to practice. Half way through, we'll stop for snacks and return to switch giver/receiver roles. You will learn massage along with: Healthy body mechanics Breath awareness How to communicate boundaries and feedback gently You will experience: Reduced cortisol and adrenaline which reduces stress, shifting you away from flight or fight and into a relaxed state Increased serotonin which helps regulate and boost mood, and helps reduce pain Increased oxytocin which lowers anxiety and increases bonding Relief of physical tension Enhanced emotional connection and trust You will: Bring 2 sheets (opaque, not see through) Wear comfortable, flexible clothing including a short sleeve or sleeveless top While receiving massage - you will disrobe except for shorts and/or underwear *Rest assured that only your arms/legs/back will be exposed individually at appropriate times during the class. (For the Feb 21 class) Be comfortable working on the floor Be respected: Please know this will be a safe space. Instructions will be given on how to discreetly disrobe/redress when receiving massage. You are also welcome to opt out of being demonstrated on while the group observes. Cost: $220 per couple for a 4 hour workshop (often runs a bit longer).
