Garment Sewing Foundations This course is the heart of Boho Fabrics. When Emily opened the shop, the goal was simple: create a space for people who wanted to sew clothing — not just quilts. Apparel sewing has always been the cornerstone of Boho Fabrics, and this series was built to give sewists the kind of garment education that’s often skipped in traditional sewing spaces. Garment Sewing Foundations is a four-part series designed to help you build real garment sewing skills step by step. Each section includes four sessions, giving students the flexibility to learn in smaller pieces instead of committing to one long marathon semester. Because life gets busy, projects pile up, and sometimes your sewing machine becomes a very expensive laundry shelf for a few days. Throughout the series, students will build both technical sewing skills and a personal design portfolio while learning the techniques and finishing details that give handmade garments a polished, professional look. Students will learn: Garment construction fundamentals Apparel fabric handling and behavior Professional seam finishes and clean interiors Tips and tricks used in garment construction to create more polished results Pressing and finishing techniques Pattern understanding and sewing accuracy Industry-inspired sewing methods used in wearable garments How to build a sewing reference and design portfolio throughout the series Prerequisite: Sewing 101: Foundations at Boho Fabrics or equivalent experience. We recognize that everyone is at a different place in their sewing journey. Students with prior sewing experience may place out of Sewing 101 by demonstrating proficiency in fundamental sewing skills, including seam construction and finishing, pressing, basic zippers, gathers, buttons and buttonholes, fabric cutting, and confident machine operation. Rather than rushing through trendy projects, this course focuses on developing skills that grow with you — whether your goal is everyday basics, handmade wardrobes, special occasion garments, or simply making clothes you’re genuinely excited to wear. Perfect for sewists ready to move beyond beginner basics and start creating polished, wearable garments with confidence. Our first session in July will be limited to 4 students and will include special introductory pricing.
