Sewing 101 is a four-session foundational course designed for beginners who already know basic machine operation—meaning you can thread your machine, sew a seam, and aren’t afraid to touch the tension dial anymore (or at least, not as afraid!). How we differ from other programs: Instead of racing through a pile of trendy, one-off projects, this course is designed to build a rock-solid foundation from the ground up. Emily, the founder of Boho Fabrics, created this specific curriculum with an "apparel-first" approach. As Emily describes it: "This is the comprehensive beginner course I wish had been available when I first started sewing." In this 4-week series, you won't just learn the fundamentals. We also teach the professional techniques and insider methods that make future projects easier, cleaner, and a lot less frustrating. We teach both the technique and the “why” behind it, and we will walk through building a physical technique portfolio for you to reference for years to come. Throughout the course, students will learn: Fabric handling and cutting fundamentals Construction basics and professional seam finishes How to improve accuracy and consistency Troubleshooting common sewing issues Foundational skills that apply directly to garments, pattern making, and draping Please note: This class is only offered a few times a year. Because this course is the absolute best way to level up your skills with established techniques, Sewing 101 is a required prerequisite before taking our other highly sought-after courses, such as Apparel Sewing, Pattern Making, and Draping. *To help create the best classroom experience possible, a minimum of 3 students is required for class to run. If minimum enrollment is not met, students will be notified in advance and may transfer to another session or receive a refund/store credit.
