The Coventry is a minimalist four panel oak fire door, an FD30 door whose clean, flat-panelled face sits comfortably in almost any home, from a farmhouse or cottage to an apartment, new build or townhouse. It brings understated style without giving up on fire safety.About the Coventry Oak Fire DoorThe Coventry pairs a simple four panel shaker face with the build of a genuine fire door. The flat, square-edged panels give it a look that is at once traditional and contemporary, so it works as well in a period hallway as in a modern bedroom or living room, and the prefinished surface means it arrives ready to hang. It is made by Deanta, one of the established fire-door manufacturers we range. An oak veneer over a solid fire coreLike every genuine fire door, the Coventry is not solid oak. It is built around a solid, fire-resisting core, faced with an oak veneer and finished with oak lippings to the edges. The core is what gives the door its strength and fire performance, while the oak face brings the natural grain and warmth of an oak door. Because the face is a natural veneer, no two doors look exactly alike.FD30 fire protection, third-party certifiedThe Coventry is rated FD30, tested and certified to resist the spread of fire for up to 30 minutes, and it is third-party certified under the BM TRADA Q-Mark scheme, the recognised independent assurance for fire doors. A fire door only performs to its rating as part of a complete, fitted set, so it should hang in a suitable fire-rated frame or lining, on the correct fire-rated hinges, with intumescent strips and smoke seals around the leaf. FD30 suits most homes; where 60 minutes is needed, see our FD60 fire doors.Finishing & CareThe Coventry is prefinished, so its faces arrive sealed at the factory and ready to hang, with no need to oil the main surfaces. It is not entirely finish-free, though: fitting means cutting into the oak for the hinges, latch and handle, and trimming the door to size exposes bare material at the edges. Up to 30mm in total can be taken off the width and the height, and those freshly cut and machined areas must be sealed as you fit, using a compatible hardwax oil from our Treatex or Osmo range, so the whole door stays protected. Our internal door treatments guide explains how.Key Product Information FD30 fire rated: tested and certified to resist fire for up to 30 minutes, third-party certified to the BM TRADA Q-Mark scheme.
