When an automatic transmission comes apart and the friction plates across multiple clutch packs are worn, glazed or burnt, replacing them one pack at a time from different sources wastes time and risks mismatches. This kit puts all five clutch pack frictions for the 4T40E and 4T45E in one box, counted and verified against a part list that ships inside the carton.The breakdown by pack is specific and intentional. The forward clutch gets 7 frictions at .069 inch thickness with 30 internal teeth. The direct clutch gets 6 frictions at .070 inch with 36 external teeth, a different tooth profile that only fits that drum. Coast clutch gets 4 frictions at .070, second clutch gets 3 at .070, and reverse clutch gets 3 at .070 as well.
