CPM S35-VN Stainless Blade Steel is the next evolution of S30V with a retuned chemistry based on vanadium and chromium. Also, the addition of Niobium provides improved toughness and wear resistance over other stainless steels such as 440-C. It is everything good that S30V is, plus it is tougher than S30V. It is also easier to machine polish than S30V. This is one of the new Niobium bearing steels. In its annealed state, S35-VN is easily machined to a degree, which is one reason it is a choice among knife makers who do a portion of their cold work on a CNC or when used for folder knives.
