The Crabber was designed by husband and wife designer/makers Ginny and Jason in idyllic Baltimore, West Cork. As their own children were such keen crabbers, the pair set about developing a crabber for other families to enjoy catching shore crabs. The crabber comes with a 4m line attached, from which hangs a rubber band (to hold a pebble acting as a weight on the shoreline), and a peg (to hold your bait, we recommend a piece of a rasher!) A brief guide to crabbing: Find a good spot with access to slightly deeper water. The best places are off the sides of slipways, pier steps or rocks. If you have caught a crab, slowly pull in the line and gently shake your catch into a bucket. Keep your crabs in a bucket half full with sea water. Add some seaweed and pebbles to provide shelter for your catch. Never overcrowd your bucket and ensure you release your crabs within an hour. Shore crabs are not edible, so treat them gently and release them unharmed close to the waters edge, away from seagulls!
