Johanna Grawunder's Crack table for Glas Italia begins with a provocation: what if glass appeared to shatter, yet held perfectly still? The surface is etched with the geometry of f racture, lines radiating outward as though frozen at the moment of impact. The result is a piece that lives in deliberate contradiction, fragile in appearance, precise in craft. Grawunder, a California-born designer and light artist long based in Milan, brings a sculptor's sensibility to the work. Her practice moves fluidly between architecture, object design, and installation, and that range is visible here. The Crack table reads differently depending on the light, its etched surface shifting from translucent to opaque, catching and diffusing at once.
