A gorgeous long vintage chirimen silk robe patterned with flying cranes and tree peonies on a wine coloured background perfect for relaxing at home or thrown over a vest top and jeans for a night out. This vintage Japanese komon kimono has been [re.form]ed to create a luxurious robe that retains the loose silhouette & draping sleeves of its traditional origins and ties with a matching sash belt. The print design is known as hanakuitori - a 'flower-eating bird', a motif that was adopted from Chinese art. The birds hidden amongst the tree peony flowers on this robe are cranes. Chirimen is a heavy silk crepe that drapes beautifully and is difficult to crease which makes it popular in kimono making The robe is in very good vintage condition externally but has faint starch marks either side on the inner front off-white silk lining - it is entirely wearable for someone who appreciates its vintage nature. There is a deep rose silk hakkake (the inner cuff and hem of the lining).
