'Crash' is a variant of a previous work, Kanagawa, depicting The Great Wave in a Hokusai woodcut. This piece repeats elements to capture the nature of the wave crest in detail. Thi s piece was created by knitting silk-wrapped stainless steel and animated by lacing a silver plated wire armature. 42" W x 48" H ABOUT THE ARTISAN Julie Pongrac's work crosses over many disciplines but is primarily focused on fibre arts. Her pieces incorporate knitting, felting, basketry, embroidery, quilting and rug hooking working with many natural fibres including metal and wire.
