The weekend I met my husband’s parents, we ventured to a mountain town called Cripple Creek way up in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This quiet little town was the site of a great mining boom in Colorado in the late 19th century, and apparently almost $11.2 billion of gold was extracted from the area. The town is now a bit sleepy, but my favorite part of it is the crisp mountain air, and the “feral” donkeys that wander the streets. Veronica from Inspired FiberWorx helped me pick out the colors for this shawl -- the colors remind me of the warm fleece and flannel blankets that we used to stay warm while in that mountain town.
