Beckettii is a hardy Sri Lankan Cryptocoryne that has been kept in aquariums for generations. Its leaves can develop beautiful bronze, brown, olive-green, and reddish tones depending on lighting and growing conditions. Appearance: Crypt. Beckettii forms attractive rosettes of elongated, slightly wavy leaves. The upper surfaces typically range from olive-green to bronze-brown, while the undersides may develop reddish or purplish coloration. Aquarium Use: An excellent midground plant for low-tech and heavily planted aquariums. Its compact rosette growth provides a natural transition between short foreground plants and taller background species. Propagation: Spreads naturally through underground runners. New daughter plants emerge around the established plant and can eventually be separated and replanted. Note: Like many Cryptocoryne, Beckettii may experience “Crypt melt” after being moved or when aquarium conditions change suddenly. Healthy roots usually remain intact, allowing the plant to produce new leaves once it adapts.
