Cryptocoryne affinis ‘Red’ is a less common Crypt with long, narrow leaves and subtle reddish-brown tones along the edges. It’s a nice change from the more common wendtii types, especially if you’re looking for something a little different without going too bold. As it grows in, it forms dense clusters and can vary quite a bit depending on your setup. With stronger lighting and CO2, it tends to stay lower and spread out more. In lower-tech tanks, it can grow taller and add a bit of height and texture to the midground or background in smaller aquarium sizes Like most Crypts, it prefers to be left alone once planted. It may go through a short adjustment period, but once it settles in, it grows steadily and will start sending out plantlets to form natural groups over time.
