Common Name: Crypt Lucens Crypt Lucens is a less common Crypt that works well as a foreground or midground plant — slender, bright green leaves with brown stems that, in large groups, can resemble tall reeds of thick grass. Like other Crypts, it's recommended for beginners for its ease of keeping and low care requirements. Skill Level Easy CO2 Optional Requires Aqua Soil Recommended — feeds through the roots in good aquarium substrate Type Rooted (Crypt) Max Height 5-10" Placement Foreground / Midground Light Level Low to Medium (approx. 20-50 PAR) Origin Sri Lanka Other Family: Araceae. pH 6.5-7.5. Moderate to fast grower. Leaves darken/enlarge over time as the plant matures. Care & Planting: Remove the cotton surrounding the roots and plant into quality substrate. Cryptocoryne prefer not to be moved once planted — avoid relocating them if possible. A note on "crypt melt": Cryptocoryne are well known for shedding their leaves after being moved, replanted, or exposed to a sudden change in water parameters. This is normal — new, better-adapted leaves typically regrow within a few weeks once the plant settles in. Don't panic if it happens; just maintain stable conditions and give it time to recover.
