Sterling cuff with line and flattened balls Jill O'Reilly has been designing and crafting jewelry since 1977. Her work is recognized for being classic and elegant, yet occasional touches of whimsey creep in. She enjoys every aspect of the craft from the mental energy spent designing new work, to the physical energy of the actual production. All pieces are hand-fabricated of sterling silver, some with gold-filled wire or semi-precious stone accents. Jill personally hand fabricates each piece of jewelry that emerges from her studio. She begins with sterling silver sheet and wire, often designing by feeling how the metal wants to move. When appropriate, she accents pieces with gold filled wire or semi-precious stones. After filing, soldering, stamping, bending and sanding each piece to her satisfaction, she stamp the piece with her hallmark and sends it to a professional polisher for hand buffing. The last step is to set any stones by hand and perform a final inspection.
