f a famous time traveler from popular culture, say Marty McFly or The Doctor from Doctor Who, visited me in 2009 with the pressing information that former members of Blood Duster a nd Circle Pit would form a band together in 2026, I would assume they were yanking my chain!! Yet, it’s actually true and Cujo are a band that doesn’t cut off its early 70s pub/glam/hard rock influenced nose to spite its feral punk rock face. Cujo are a supergroup (lol, resume: Electric Chair, Rot TV, Miss Destiny, Private Function, Captain Cleanoff etc), but while some “features members of” Melbourne bands reek of strategy, like they formed to get some European promoter to book them a band holiday, this one sounds like friends hanging out. There’s a certain sense of carefree, b-movie fun here, as if a Bomp or Stiff Records band experienced both hardcore punk and sunset strip schlock.
