Cup the Crab is a light, tactical card game for 3–5 players about hermit crabs, octopuses, and the eternal seaside struggle to turn somebody else's trash into premium real estate. Over seven rounds, players commit cards from a limited personal supply to build shared stacks of cups, claim valuable piles with Crabs and Octopuses, or drop Bottles into promising stacks to make them harder to take. Simple hand management quickly becomes a table-wide timing game: build a pile too generously and someone else will steal it; claim too early and you may watch a much better home appear thirty seconds later. A player adding another valuable Cup might be helping you. They might be baiting you into spending your Crab. They might simply be setting up an Octopus play while hoping nobody notices. Bottles are where the beach gets mean. Once one lands on a pile, the options for continuing or claiming that stack narrow dramatically, turning a tempting scoring opportunity into an awkward problem that only the right card can solve. How the Game Works Each player begins with their own finite mix of Cup, Crab, Octopus, and Bottle cards. At the start of each of the seven rounds, choose three cards from your remaining hand to use, so every round asks you to commit before you know exactly what the other players intend. Cup cards increase the value of shared piles. Crab cards can claim piles for points, while Octopus cards provide a more flexible way to secure them. Bottles disrupt stacks because only an Octopus can follow a Bottle, making them useful for blocking a rival's obvious target or protecting an opportunity until you can get back to it. Since cards do not magically return when you need them, timing your limited claims and sabotage across all seven rounds is the real game.
