Pour the tea through the serrated opening of the cup into the wh ite porcelain bowl while using the lid and serrated edge as a strainer. The wide porcelain bowl allows you to examine the color of the tea in a shallow and wide area against a bright white background. The lid of the handled cup can be rested upside down on the lid's handle--allowing you to analyze the color, shape, smell, and consistency of the steeped tea leaves.
