Custard apple is a generic name for a number of different varieties of annonaceous (formed like a pineapple) fruits that have custard-like, creamy coloured, fragrant, soft flesh wi th seeds. These include sour sop, sweet sop or sugar apple, and cherimoya. Cherimoya is most common in the UK. It is shaped like a globe artichoke and has bumpy green skin and black seeds.
