At Design Realized, we provide custom anti-reflection (AR) coating services for a wide range of laser crystals and optical components used in scientific research, industrial lasers, medical systems, and prototype photonics development. Our coating services are suitable for both standard and custom crystal geometries, including rods, wafers, disks, windows, and precision-polished optics. What is AR Coating? Anti-reflection (AR) coating is a thin-film optical coating applied to crystal or optical surfaces to reduce reflection losses and improve transmission efficiency at specific wavelengths. Proper AR coating can significantly improve: Laser output efficiency Optical transmission Beam quality Power stability Damage threshold Overall system performance For laser systems, even a few percent improvement in transmission can make a major difference in efficiency and thermal performance. Supported Laser Crystal Materials We support AR coating services for many commonly used laser and nonlinear optical crystals, including: Nd:YAG Er:YAG Ho:YAG Yb:YAG Cr:YAG Ti:Sapphire Alexandrite Ruby (Cr:Al₂O₃) BBO LBO KTP RTP Sapphire Quartz CaF₂ MgF₂ ZnSe Si Ge Custom materials may also be supported upon review. Common Coating Wavelengths We provide custom coating designs optimized for your application, including: 355 nm 532 nm 633 nm 808 nm 980 nm 1030 nm 1064 nm 1310 nm 1550 nm 2.1 μm 2.94 μm Mid-IR custom bands Both single-wavelength and broadband AR coatings are available. Available Coating Types Depending on your application, we can provide: Anti-Reflection (AR) Coatings Low reflection at target wavelength(s) High-Reflection (HR) Coatings High reflectivity for resonator mirrors and laser cavities Partial Reflector Coatings Custom output coupler designs Dual-Band Coatings Optimized for pump + laser wavelength combinations Example: AR @ 808 nm HR @ 1064 nm Typical Applications Our AR coating services are commonly used in: DPSS lasers Q-switched lasers Ultrafast lasers Medical laser systems LIDAR Raman spectroscopy Nonlinear optics Research laboratories Prototype photonics systems Defense and aerospace R&D Custom Engineering Support We understand that many research and prototype laser systems require non-standard specifications. We can support: Custom dimensions Small quantity prototypes Optical polishing before coating High laser damage threshold coatings Coating design consultation Thin disks and fragile substrates Custom aperture geometries University and startup customers are welcome.
